3/30-4/1/07 : Thirty-One Make Decisions for Christ at Springfield Gardens Church in Jamaica, New York

Dr. Starnes served as the Preacher and Teacher for the Spiritual Emphasis Weekend for the Springfield Gardens Church of the Nazarene in Jamaica, New York, where the Rev. Lenroy Pascall is the Senior Pastor. The Weekend Event included Revival services on Friday and Saturday evenings, a Discipleship teaching session on Saturday morning, and two services on Sunday morning. During the preaching services thirty-one persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation, while many others came forward to rededicate their lives to the Lord.

3/25-27/07 : Director Attends Evangelism Connections' Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee

Dr. Starnes represented the AME Zion Church at the semi-annual meeting of Evangelism Connections, an ecumenical organization consisting of the evangelism leaders of the major denominations in North America. The meeting was held at the Headquarters for the General Board of Discipleship for the United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee; and was hosted by the Rev. Dr. Kwasi Kenya, Director of Evangelism for the United Methodist Church. Charlene J. Smith, Minister of Evangelism for Local Church Development and Renewal for the United Church of Christ, served as convener. Denominations represented at the meeting including the AME Zion Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, the Reformed Church of America, the Church of the Brethren, the Presbyterian Church of America, the Presbyterian Church of Canada, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Baptist Church, and the United Methodist Church. Also in attendance was Ms. Lynette Hawkins the President of BGM Awesome Insight, which focuses on helping churches grow through basic marketing principles.

3/19-22/07 : Thirteen Zionites attend Order of the FLAME Reunion Event in ST Simons Island, GA

Dr. Starnes facilitated a workshop and was a featured speaker at the Order of the FLAME Reunion Event held at Epworth by the Sea, a Methodist Retreat Center on St. Simons Island, GA. The Order of the FLAME Conference is sponsored each year by World Methodist Evangelism, where Rev. Dr. H. Eddie Fox is the World Director. Dr. Starnes is a member of the faculty for World Evangelism and is Secretary of Evangelism for the North American Section of the World Methodist Council. Once every four or five years those who have become members of the Order are invited back for a reunion event. Twelve other members of the AME Zion Church were in attendance: Sis. Camille Starnes, of Charlotte, NC; Dr. and Mrs. Otis McMillan of Spring Lake, NC; Dr. and Mrs. Vincent M. Jones of Chesapeake, VA; Rev. and Mrs. John Morris of Dallas, TX; Rev. and Mrs. David Walker of Knoxville, TN; Rev. William Dudley of Renton, Washington; Dr. Sondra Coleman of Birmingham, AL; and Rev. Valerie Ingram of Albemarle, NC.

3/14-16/07 : Eight Come to Christ in Revival at First AME Zion Church, Pasadena, California

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Spring Revival at the First AME Zion Church in Pasadena, California, where the Rev. Keith O. Johnson is the pastor. The Praise Team of the local church served each night and the services were beautifully supported by the pastors and churches of the Los Angeles area. During the three-day event eight persons came forward to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, while others rededicated their lives to Christ.

3/9-11/07 : Three Come to Christ as the Houston District Takes It to the Streets

The Houston District Department of Evangelism, led by its Director, Kris Nichols and the Missionaries of the Houston District, led by their President, Mrs. Henrietta Daniels teamed-up to take Christ's gospel to the streets of Houston. Dr. Starnes, the Director of Evangelism for the AME Zion Church came from Charlotte to help facilitate the three-day event, which was hosted by the Walls Chapel AME Zion Church in Houston, Texas, where the Rev. Donald Daniels is the pastor and the Rev. Barbara Latoison is the Presiding Elder. Dr. Starnes led evangelism training on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Saturday morning's training was held in conjunction with the Missionary Mass Meeting, which coincided beautifully with the Missionary emphasis on evangelism. Saturday afternoon, the district took the gospel to the streets of Houston, going door-to-door with literature about the church and the gospel. The missionaries responded to the needs expressed by many in the community during the visits by later taking food and other supplies. Sunday, Dr. Starnes gave the morning message as a part of Walls Chapel's Church Anniversary Celebration. During the events three persons came forward to accept Christ. Among the many others who gave wonderful support were Presiding Elder, Barbara Latoison and Texas Conference Director of Evangelism, Rev. Michael Hayles.

3/5-7/07 : Eighteen Come to Christ in Revival at MT Olive AME Zion Church, Monroe, North Carolina

Dr. Starnes was the evangelist for the Spring Revival for the Mount Olive AME Zion Church in Monroe, North Carolina, where the Rev. Darwin Little is the pastor. The choirs of the local church provided the music ministry each night. Presiding Elder Murray Edwards and other ministers of the Wadesboro-Monroe District came in support of the services. During the revival eighteen persons came forward to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, while others rededicated their lives to Christ.

3/2-3/07 : Three Come to Christ at Akron District Evangelism Convocation

Dr. Starnes served as the featured speaker and Workshop Facilitator for the Evangelistic Convocation for the Akron District, where the Rev. Robert Hickey is the Presiding Elder and the Loretta Sanders is the Director of Evangelism. Dr. Starnes preached Friday night, when three persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation. On Saturday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the day-long seminar on the Theme: Equipping God's People in the Ministry of Evangelism. The event was hosted by the Wesley Temple AME Zion Church in Akron, Ohio, where the Rev. Dr. Curtis T. Walker serves as the pastor. Also present was the Rev. Beverly Lewis, the Ohio Conference Director of Evangelism.

1/28-31/07 : Twenty-Six Make Decisions for Christ as Director Conducts Revival at Bronx Bethany Church

Dr. Starnes served as the Evangelist for the Winter-Spring Revival at the Bronx Bethany Church of the Nazarene in the Bronx, New York, where the Rev. Dr. Samuel Vassel is the Senior Pastor. The Revival, which began during the Sunday Morning services, continued with nightly services Sunday through Wednesday. The Director also taught Bible Study during the noonday on Wednesday. During the event twenty-six persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation and others came forward to rededicate their lives to the Lord.

1/25-27/07 : Director is Featured Speaker/Facilitator for the Bay Cities District Evangelism Convocation

Dr. Starnes served as the featured speaker and Workshop Facilitator for the Annual Evangelistic Convocation for the Bay Cities District, where the Rev. Dr. Frederick Hubbard is the Presiding Elder and the Rev. Joseph Sharper is the Director of Evangelism. Dr. Starnes preached both Thursday and Friday nights, while the Rev. George Woodruff and the Rev. Dr. John Watts led the training sessions respectively. On Saturday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the day-long seminar on the Convocation Theme: Quality Characteristics of Healthy Congregations. The event was hosted by the Greater Cooper AME Zion Church in Oakland, California, where the Rev. Steven Pogue serves as the pastor, the California Conference Director of Evangelism, and the Episcopal District Representative on the Connectional Board of Evangelism.

1/15-19/07 : Six Come to Christ as Director Conducts Revival at Outland Memorial AME Zion Church, Fort Worth

Dr. Starnes was the Revival Speaker and Seminar Facilitator for the week-long revival held at the Outland Memorial AME Zion Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where the Rev. Rodney McCullough is the pastor, and his wife, the Rev. Cynthia McCullough is the Assistant. Each night before the Revival Services, the Director facilitated a Leadership Seminar, to which the churches of the Dallas/Fort Worth District were invited. During the week six persons came forward to accept Christ as Lord and Savior, while others rededicated their lives to Christ.

1/11/07 : Director is Featured Presenter at the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District Convocation

Dr. Starnes was among the Featured Presenters for the Annual Convocation sponsored by the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District, where the Right Rev. Richard K. Thompson is the Presiding Prelate. The Director led a plenary session on the Convocation Theme: Clergy Self-Care. The well-attended training event was held at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina.

1/6/07 : Director is Featured Facilitator at Worship Seminar at John Wesley AME Zion Church, Washington, DC

Dr. Starnes served as the Featured Facilitator for a Worship Seminar at the National Church of Zion Methodism, the historic John Wesley AME Zion Church in Washington, DC, where the Rev. Dr. Vernon Shannon is the pastor and Ms. Renee Felton Pullen is the Coordinator of Training Events for the church. The event began with a session on the symbols of the church led by Dr. Helen Scott Carter, Director of Children's Ministry for the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. Following this, the Director facilitated a teaching session on Inspiring Worship as essential characteristic of a healthy congregation.

12/27-30/06 : Director is Workshop Facilitator at CED Winter Meeting in Orland, Florida

Dr. Starnes was a workshop facilitator at the Winter Meeting sponsored by Christian Education Department of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, where the Rev. Dr. Raymon Hunt is the Secretary/Treasurer. The Director facilitated three workshops on Small-Group Discipleship during the event, which was held at the World Center Marriott Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Starnes also helped to give leadership to the follow-up done on all of those who made decisions for Christ during the event.

1/9/06 : Director Holds Kick-Off Event for Campaign for the Episcopacy

The Rev. Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church held a Kick-Off Celebration for his campaign for the Episcopacy at the Weeping Willow AME Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Wardell Henderson is the pastor. The Rev. Dr. John C. Evans, the International Chairperson from Jackson, Mississippi, Mrs. Connie Williams, the International Co-Chairperson from Charlotte, the Rev. Dr. Sondra Coleman, the International Coordinator from Birmingham, AL, the Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller, the Local Chairperson, and the Rev. Michael McLean, the Local Co-Chairperson led the campaign team, as a group of supporters, family members, and well-wishers, including Retired Bishop Joseph Johnson gathered to cheer on the candidate.

11/18/06: Director Facilitates Small Group Discipleship Training for Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated a three-hour training session in Small Group Discipleship for the Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC, where the Rev. Elvin Sadler is the pastor. The session, which was attended by most of the class leaders of the church, focused on the Class Meeting as a model for making Christian disciples.

11/14-17/06: Director is Chapel Speaker at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN

Dr. Starnes served as the Chapel Speaker at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN, near South Bend, IN, where Dr. Steven Cramer is the President and Dr. Dennis Engbrecht is the Senior Vice President. On Wednesday morning Dr. Starnes spoke at the 10:00 AM Chapel Service in the 900-seat auditorium. That afternoon, he delivered a brief message to the Bethel College Men's Basketball Team. That night he was speaker for the Student-Led Vesper Service. On Thursday morning Dr. Starnes was the guest lecturer for the Theology Class. That afternoon, he addressed the student leaders of the campus. That night he spoke to the youth group of the Gospel Center Missionary Church in South Bend. Three young people gave their lives to Christ. Friday morning Dr. Starnes was again the Chapel Speaker for the college

11/12/06: Three Come to Christ as Director Speaks at Evans Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Bennettsville, SC

Dr. Starnes was the guest speaker for special afternoon service at the Evans Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Bennettsville, SC, where the Rev. Willie F. Davis is the pastor. The event was both a fund-raiser for liquidating a mortgage, as well as an appreciation service for the pastor. Under the leadership of the pastor and the followship of the membership, the goal was reached to liquidate the mortgage. Special tokens of appreciation were expressed to the pastor for her excellent work during the conference year. The highlight of the day was the conversion of three persons who responded to the gospel invitation.

11/8-11/06: Eight give their Lives to Christ in Revival at Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in New London, CT

Director Darryl Starnes was the Revival Speaker for the fifth year in a row at the Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in New London, Connecticut, where the Rev. William Wilson is the pastor. During the revival, which took place Wednesday through Friday, eight persons came forward to give their lives to Christ. On Saturday, Dr. Starnes facilitated a four-hour seminar on Making Christian Disciples.

11/5-7/06: :Eight Converted as Director Revival at Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainville, CT

For the fifth consecutive year, Director Darryl Starnes served as the Evangelist and Seminar Presenter for the Annual Revival held at the Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainville, Connecticut, where the Rev. Elvin Clayton is the pastor. Monday and Tuesday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the nightly workshops on The Class Meeting, while Sunday through Tuesday, he was the Revival Speaker. During the revival there were eight conversions, as well as many other rededications.

10/30 - 11/2/06: Sixteen Come to Christ as Director is Missions Preacher for Central Eleuthera Region, Bahamas

Dr. Starnes served as the preacher for the Annual Missions event sponsored by the Central Eleuthera Region of the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church, where Dr. Kenris Cary is the Denominational President and where the Rev. Godfrey Bethell is the Ministerial Moderator. The services were held each night at one of the five churches of the region: Wesley Methodist Church, Palmetto Point; Wesley Methodist Church, Governor's Harbor; Wesley Methodist Church, James Cistern, St Marks Methodist Church, Hatchet Bay; and Wesley Methodist Church, Gregory Town. Dr. Starnes delivered the message the first four nights before leaving the area to teach his evangelism class at the Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC. During those first four nights sixteen persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

10/26-29/06: Eighteen Come to Christ as Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion Church Takes It to the Streets

For the second consecutive year, Dr. Starnes facilitated the "Taking It to the Streets" Weekend Event sponsored by the Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion in San Antonio, Texas, where Rev. Kristel Nichols is the Organizing Pastor and newly appointed Director of Evangelism for the Houston District. Only in its second year of existence, Redeeming Grace has grown to over forty members. Dr. Starnes led faith-sharing training Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, the church took the gospel to the streets of San Antonio. Sunday, Dr. Starnes gave the morning message. During the event eighteen persons came forward to accept Christ: four on Thursday and fourteen on Sunday. Supporters of the event included Rev. Barbara Latoison, Presiding Elder, Houston District; Rev. A. J. Latoison, Houston District Intercessor and pastor of Holy Ghost A.M.E. Zion in Houston; Rev. and Mrs. Michael Hayles, pastor of Porter Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Dobbin, TX and Texas Conference Director of Evangelism; and Rev. and Mrs. Roger Booker, pastor of Caleb A.M.E. Zion Church, San Antonio.

10/22/06: A Soul Comes to Christ as Director Speaks at Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC

Dr. Starnes was the guest speaker for this month's evangelistic service at the Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC, where the Rev. David Williams is the pastor. It was most fitting because the Pleasant Ridge Church held this service in cooperation with the Bureau of Evangelism's Decision Day Observance. The spirit of praise and celebration filled the house as the talented Rev. David William and his equally gifted wife, Karen Williams led the music ministry of the church. The climax of the service came in response to the message, when a young lady came forward to give her life to Jesus Christ

10/22/06: Four Come to Christ as Director Speaks at New Bethel AME Zion Church in Fayetteville, NC

For the second year in a row, Dr. Starnes was the Homecoming Speaker at the New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Orland Dowdy is the pastor. The pack-house was greeted by a Praise Team that ushered in the presence of God. The dynamic music ministry of the church lifted people to the joy of heart-felt worship. The message was warmly received and four persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation.

10/16-20/06: Twenty-Six Come to Christ as Director Is Evangelist at Walters Memorial in Bridgeport, CT

Dr. Starnes' first visit to the Walters Memorial AME Zion Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the Rev. Keith Newsome is the pastor, proved most fruitful for the kingdom of God. The congregation poured their hearts out to God in prayer weeks prior to the revival and the Lord heard their prayers. The Holy Spirit manifested the God's presence in the powerful ministry of the Praise Team; in the singing of choirs from the church and from the city; and in the preached word. Twenty-six persons came forward to give their lives to Christ and trust Him for salvation, while many others rededicated their lives to Christ and His service.

10/8/06: Wesley AME Zion Church Celebrates First Church Anniversary

Rev. Michael McLean and the East Stonewall AME Zion Church gave birth to Wesley AME Zion Church. Dr. Starnes led 10 people (himself, his wife, two daughters, son-in-law, and five other members of the East Stonewall family) into four months of training in small group discipleship. On October 2, 2005, with the blessing of Bishop George W. C. Walker, Sr., the Wesley AME Zion Church held its first service in the Denny Building, Room 220 at UNCC, with Harrisburg, NC being the target area. The church has gone from 10 to more than 30 members. At its First Anniversary Celebration the Rev. Dr. Calvin Miller brought a soul stirring message and the Gethsemane AME Zion Church Choir accompanied him. Rev. McLean prayed a powerful prayer, gave encouraging words, and the East Stonewall Choir provided music. The Voices of Wesley (VOW) sang beautifully and the dance ministry of Love Empowered Ministries shared in the celebration

10/6-7/06: Director Is Featured Presenter at Connectional Lay Council Evangelistic Retreat in Durham, NC

Dr. Starnes was the Featured Presenter for the Evangelistic Retreat held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham, North Carolina. The event was sponsored by the AME Zion Church Connectional Lay Council, where Mr. David Aiken is the president and Bishop Clarence Carr is the Connectional Lay Board Chairman. Bishop Richard Thompson is the 1st Vice Chairman and served as Host Bishop. Rev. Dr. G. Ray Coleman and the St. Mark AME Zion Church served as the hosts. Dr. Starnes facilitated four plenary sessions addressing five of the eight essential qualities of the healthy and growing congregations

10/4/06: Director Facilitates Day-Long Seminar for the Church of the Nazarene in Boston, MA

For the third consecutive year, Dr. Starnes facilitated a day-long Evangelism Seminar for the Black Church Leadership Symposium sponsored by the Mission Strategy/Mission Evangelism, USA/Canada of the Church of the Nazarene, where Dr. Oliver Phillips is the Director. Pastors and ministers from all over the country came for this annual training event.

9/28-29/06: Director Completes Small Group Discipleship Training for Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church, Gastonia, NC

Dr. Starnes completed the Small Group Discipleship training for the Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC, where the Rev. David Williams is the pastor. He followed up on an initial session earlier in the month, with two back to back sessions with the class leaders of the church. The Minister of Discipleship, Rev. Keith Wiggins will continue the training as the church moves toward revitalizing the Class Meeting and enhancing the Class Leaders' Ministry.

9/27/06: Director Completes Church Growth Seminar at Sills Creek AME Zion Church in Mooresville, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes facilitated the third in a series of three monthly workshops as a part of a Church Growth Seminar held at the Sills Creek AME Zion Church in Mooresville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Jordon Boyd is the pastor. The focus of the Seminar was "Quality Characteristics of Healthy Congregations.

9/23/06: Director Announces Candidacy for the Episcopacy at WNCC Check-up Meeting

Dr. Starnes officially announced his candidacy for the office of bishop at the Check-up Meeting of the Western North Carolina Conference, where the Rt. Rev. George Washington Carver Walker, Sr. is the Presiding Bishop. The Check-up Meeting was held at the Trinity AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC, where the Rev. Henry Hall is the pastor. Bishop Walker was gracious to allow him to make the official announcement of his candidacy at an official meeting of the Western North Carolina Conference of which Dr. Starnes is a part. The election of bishops will be held at the 2008 General Conference of the AME Zion Church to be held in Atlanta, GA.

9/17-19/06: Director Attends Evangelism Connections' Meeting in Indianapolis, IN

Dr. Starnes represented the AME Zion Church at the semi-annual meeting of Evangelism Connections, an ecumenical organization consisting of the evangelism leaders of the major denominations in North America. The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), downtown Indianapolis, IN; and was hosted by Rev. R. Wayne Calhoun, Minister of Evangelism, Office of Evangelism, Disciples Home Mission. Charlene J. Smith, Minister of Evangelism for Local Church Development and Renewal for the United Church of Christ, served as convener. Denominations represented at the meeting including the AME Zion Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, the Reformed Church of America, the Church of the Brethren, the Presbyterian Church of America, the Presbyterian Church of Canada, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Baptist Church, and the United Methodist Church.

9/12-14/06: Thirteen Receive Salvation as Director is Evangelist at New Hope AME Zion Church, Spencer, NC

For the second consecutive year Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist at the New Hope AME Zion Church in Spencer, NC, where the Rev. Retoy Gaston is the pastor. Various auxiliaries of the church led the devotions before each service and the New Hope Choir provided inspiring music each night. During the three-day event thirteen persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation, while many others rededicated their lives to the living Lord.

9/10/06: Ten Come to Christ as Director Speaks at St. Mark AME Church, Milwaukee, WI

Dr. Starnes was the featured speaker for the Evangelism Emphasis Day at the St. Mark AME Church in Milwaukee, WI, where the Rev. Darryl Williams is the pastor. Dr. Starnes delivered the message at both 8:00 AM and the 11:00 AM services. During the early morning service, the Rev. Johnny Johnson, the pastor of the Clement Memorial AME Zion Church, Milwaukee and his assistant, Bro. Kevin Seward came over to share in the service. During the 11:00 AM service, ten persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

9/6/06: Director Initiates Small Group Discipleship Training for Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church, Gastonia, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated the initial training in Small Group Discipleship for the Pleasant Ridge AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC, where the Rev. David Williams is the pastor. This first session was with the congregation's Minister of Discipleship, Rev. Keith Wiggins and Mrs. Wilhelmina Malone, a key class leader in the church. The training set the stage for two more training sessions to be held later in the month involving all of the class leaders of the church.

8/29-31/06: Director Conducts Revival at Sills Creek AME Zion Church in Mooresville, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival for the Sills Creek AME Zion Church, where the Rev. Jordon Boyd is the pastor. During the three-day event 2 persons came forward to give their lives to Christ and many others committed themselves to spiritual growth.

8/21-25/06: Director Conducts Revival at Johnsonville AME Zion Church in Cameron, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Johnsonville AME Zion Church in Cameron, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Mattie M. Walden is the pastor. The choirs of the church and the community provided the music each night. During the five-day event, more than thirteen persons gave their lives to Christ, while others gained assurance of salvation or rededicated their lives to Christ.

8/17-20/06: Director Preaches and Teaches at Kakabeka Falls Bible Camp near Thunder Bay, Canada

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the featured speaker and teacher at the Kakabeka Falls Bible Camp near Thunder Bay, Canada. The four-day Family Camp Event was sponsored by the area churches of the Free Methodist Church of Canada. The Rev. Carl Edmonson, who directs the camp, was the event coordinator. Dr. Starnes preached every day and taught two plenary sessions, as well as a special session for pastors. Two young men gave their lives to Christ during the event.

8/14-16/06: Director Conducts Revival at Indian Hill AME Zion Church in Fort Mill, SC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Indian Hill AME Zion Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Dorothy S. Johnson is the pastor. The choirs of the community provided the music each night in the unique style of South Carolina singing. Bishop Joseph Johnson, retired Bishop and spouse of the pastor, was in attendance each night. During the three-day revival, five persons came forward to give their lives to the Lord, Jesus Christ.

8/13/06: Director Preaches at the Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, AL

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes brought the message at each of the three Sunday morning worship services at the Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama, where Dr. Jeff Spiller served as the pastor. Dr. Spiller was the organizing pastor of this congregation, which began with about 20 members, but now has a membership of more than 5,000. Each of the three services seemed to have more than a thousand persons in attendance. A number of families united with the congregation that Sunday.

8/12/06: Director Eulogizes His Grandmother at First AME Zion Church in Knoxville, TN

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the eulogist for the Home Going Celebration of Mrs. Eleanor Babington-Johnson, widow of the late Dr. J. A. Babington-Johnson. The funeral was held at the First AME Zion Church, where the Rev. Ezra Maize is the pastor. The service, which was presided over by Rev. Maize, was a celebration of the life of Mrs. Babington-Johnson, who served as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Knoxville City Schools for more than 40 years and who served in the AME Zion Church as a missionary, musician, class leader, administrative assistant, and teacher.

8/7-10/06: Director Conducts Revival at Rock Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, SC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Rock Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Ralph Washington is the pastor. The choirs of the church and the community provided the music each night in the unique style of South Carolina singing. During the five-day event more than thirty-five persons gave their lives to Christ, while others gained assurance of salvation or rededicated their lives to Christ. The Rev. Michael McLean preached the last night of the Revival, so that the Director could travel to Knoxville in order to eulogize his grandmother.

8/2-4/06: Director Conducts Revival at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Kirby Haire is the pastor. The choirs of the church provided the music each night. During the three-day revival more than twenty persons gave their lives to Christ, while rededicated their lives to Christ. Some of the area A.M.E. Zion churches and pastors attended each night in order to give their support to the event.

7/26-29/06: Director Makes Annual Report to the Connectional Council

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism, made his Annual Report, first to the Board of Evangelism, chaired by Bishop Roy Holmes, and then to the Connectional Council of the A.M.E. Zion Church, led by Bishop James McCoy, the President of the Board of Bishop. The annual event, which this year was held at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky, was hosted by the Stoner Memorial AME Zion Church, Rev. Mwana Strickland, pastor and the Kentucky Annual Conference, Bishop Kenneth Monroe, Presiding Prelate.

7/20-24/06: Director Speaks at World Methodist Conference Evangelism Seminar in Seoul, Korea

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism for the A.M.E. Zion Church, was one of more than forty Zionites in attendance at the World Methodist Conference held at the Kum Nan Methodist Church in Seoul, Korea. Bishop Clarence Carr, member of the World Methodist Council Presidium and Bishop George Walker, Senior Bishop of the A.M.E Zion Church, led the delegation to this event, which is held every five years. On Saturday, July 22, 2006, Dr. Starnes was one of the features speakers at the Evangelism Seminar that was held in the Sanctuary of the Kum Nan Church.

7/18-19/06: Director Appointed Secretary of Evangelism for North America at World Methodist Council in Seoul, Korea

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism for the A.M.E. Zion Church, was appointed as the new Secretary of Evangelism for the North American Section of the World Methodist Council. The appointment was made official at the Evangelism Division Meeting of the World Methodist Council Meeting held at the Chong Dong Methodist Church in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Starnes succeeds Bishop Nathaniel Lindsey of the CME Church, who has been made Secretary Emeritus. Mrs. Barbara Shaw, President of the WH&OM Society was appointed chairperson of the Family Life Committee of the Council.

7/13-15/06: Director Leads Marriage Enrichment Event at Union Chapel AME Zion Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes and his wife, Camille C. Starnes were the featured presenters at an event sponsored by the Christian Education Department of the Union Chapel AME Zion Church in Albemarle, NC, where the Rev. Valerie Ingram is the pastor. The focus of the event was marriage enrichment. Event consisted of breakout sessions for husbands and wives led by Dr. and Mrs. Starnes, as well as plenary sessions, and an evening to remember.

Dr. Darryl Starnes and the newly established Wesley AME Zion Church were the special guests of the Glovers Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Siler City, North Carolina, where the Rev. Gaylyn S. Clarence Carr is the Presiding Prelate. The annual event was hosted again this year at Clinton Jr. College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where Dr. Elaine Copeland serves as President. During the morning Dr. Starnes led a seminar for laity on the subject: "Equipping God's People in the Ministry of Evangelism." In the afternoon, Dr. Starnes led a seminar for clergy on the subject: "The Disciple Making Pastor."

5/24-28/06: Director Speaks/Teaches at Spiritual Growth Conference in the Bahamas

Dr. Darryl Starnes served as the featured speaker and presenter for the Spiritual Growth Conference sponsored by the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church, where Dr. Kenris L. Carey serves as the President. The annual event was held this year at the 203 year-old Ebenezer Methodist Church in Nassau, Bahamas. Dr. Starnes served as the Bible Study Teacher each morning, presented evangelism workshops each morning, leadership workshops each afternoon, and was the speaker for Friday Night and Sunday Morning. Mrs. Camille Starnes, the Director's wife, led workshops on Women's Ministry each afternoon. As many as fifteen persons, mostly youth, gave their lives to Christ during the Sunday morning service.

5/21/06: Director Preaches as Grace AME Zion Church Celebrates Evangelism Training

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes delivered the message as the Grace AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC, where the Rev. Dr. Bernard Sullivan is the pastor, celebrated the culmination of a series of evangelism training sessions sponsored by the local evangelism and church growth ministry. In the fall and winter of 2005, the Director held a number of "Training the Trainer "Sessions with the local evangelism and church growth ministry of the Grace church. Those trainers subsequently trained members of the congregation in the ministries of evangelism and discipleship. The event took place during Grace's 8:30 am Worship Service, which is held each week at the Davis Cox Elementary School. During the service there was one conversion.

5/15-19/06: 3 Converted in Revival at Greater Light AME Zion Church in St. Petersburg, FL

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist and Seminar Facilitator for the Annual Revival for the Tampa District, where the Rev. George Bolden is the Presiding Elder and the Rev. Dr. Harry Jones is the District Director of Evangelism. The event was hosted by the Greater Light AME Zion Church in St. Petersburg, Florida, where the Rev. Dr. Harry Jones is the organizing pastor. Dr. Jones and his wife, LaTonja Jones, the Director of Evangelism for the South Florida Conference, planted this congregation in the St. Petersburg area about ten years ago. Dr. Starnes led evangelism training sessions each night before preaching in the Revival Services. During the five-day event three persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

5/12-13/06: Director Leads Evangelism Weekend at Greater Centennial AME Zion Church in Mt. Vernon, NY

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the featured speaker and facilitator for the Annual Evangelism Weekend of the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, where the Rev. W. Darin Moore is the pastor and Bro. Harvey Salmon is the local Director of Evangelism. Dr. Starnes spoke Friday Night at the Evangelism Service, in which there were two conversions. He spoke again at the Saturday Morning Prayer Breakfast, in which there where two more conversions. He led an evangelism training session to prepare and organize witnesses for the community canvass which would follow. Four groups of four witnesses went into the community and shared the gospel. Many contacts were made and there were six conversions during the community outreach.

5/8-10/06: Director Conducts Revival at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston Salem, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Spring Revival of the Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Roy Swann is the pastor. The choirs of the church provided the music each night. Various organizations of the church led the praise and worship prior to each service. Five persons gave their lives to Christ, while others received assurance of salvation, and still others rededicated their lives to Christ.

4/30/06: Director Speaks at Charlotte District's Fifth Sunday Fellowship Service

Dr. Darryl Starnes, the organizing pastor of the newly established Wesley AME Zion Church, was the speaker for the Fifth Sunday Fellowship Service of the Charlotte District, where Dr. Donald McNeely is the Presiding Elder. The Wesley AME Zion Church Choir provided the music along with the choir from St. Mark AME Zion Church in Pineville, North Carolina, which hosted the event. Rev. George Banks, the host pastor was worship leader. During the service two persons gave their lives to Christ.

4/29/06: Director Meets Evangelism Leaders of Major African Methodist Denominations

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism, met with the evangelism leaders of the Major African Methodist Denominations in a day long Conference. Dr. Starnes, the Director of Evangelism for the AME Zion Church, Dr. James Wade, the Director of Church Growth and Expansion for the AME Church, and Dr. Willie Champion, the Director of Evangelism and Church Growth for the CME Church came together in Little Rock, Arkansas in an unprecedented gathering. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Russell Cephas, the Director of Church Growth International, which is headquartered in Little Rock. The state of evangelism and church growth in each denomination was explored. Training in church growth and church planting was provided. Ways and means of mutual support and collaboration were also explored. The event proved most helpful and inspiring.

4/25-27/06: 23 Converted in Sanford District Revival

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Annual Revival for the Sanford District, where the Rev. Dr. Ocie Brown is the Presiding Elder. The event was hosted by the Fair Promise AME Zion Church in Sanford, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Avery Brown is the pastor. The Rev. Marvin Lee, the Director of Evangelism for the Sanford District, and the District Committee on Evangelism, gave leadership in the planning and facilitating of the Revival. Choirs from the District provided the music each night. During the three-day event twenty-three persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

4/17-21/06: Director Conducts Outland Memorial Youth Revival/Hosts Seminar for Dallas/Fort Worth District

For the second year in a row Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Annual Youth Revival of the Outland Memorial AME Zion Church in Fort Worth, Texas, where the Rev. Rodney McCullough is the Pastor and where Rev. Carolyn McCullough is the Youth Minister. The youth choir of the church provided the music each night. The anointed dance ministries of the church provided inspiration. Sixteen youth and children gave their lives to Christ, while many others rededicated their lives. From 5:30 to 6:45 pm each night, the Director held a Church Growth Seminar sponsored by the Dallas/Fort Worth District, where Rev. John Morris is the Presiding Elder, and where Rev. Lenora Counter is the District Director of Evangelism. The topic for the seminar was the Quality Characteristics of Healthy Congregations.

4/11-13/06: Director Conducts Holy Week Revival at Clinton Chapel in Montgomery, Alabama

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Holy Week Revival of the Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where the Rev. Leonard Cammack is the Pastor. The choirs of the church provided the music. Mrs. Michele McKenzie led worship and praise. Three persons gave their lives to Christ. Others rededicated their lives to Christ.

4/8-9/06: Director Leads Class Leaders' Training/Preaches at Washington Metropolitan, ST Louis, MO

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes conducted a day-long training event for the Class Leaders of the Washington Metropolitan AME Zion Church in St. Louis, Missouri, where the Rev. Anthony Witherspoon is the pastor. Ministers and laity from the District also attended the event, which focus primarily on "The Class Meeting." Sunday, the Director delivered the message for the Palm Sunday Celebration. The music ministry of the church was outstanding. The celebration of the "Palms" was memorable. During the morning worship service twelve persons gave their lives to Christ.

4/5-7/06: Director Conducts Youth Revival for Alston Chapel United Holy Church, Pittsboro, NC

For the fifth consecutive year, Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Youth Revival of the Alston Chapel United Holy Church in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where Rev. Dr. Carrie Bolton is the Pastor. Numerous youth were in attendance at this event. Three youth gave their lives to Christ, while many of the persons present rededicated their lives to Christ.

3/27-30/06: Director Preaches & Teaches at Order of the FLAME Conference/10 Zionites in Attendance

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes facilitated workshops and was a featured speaker at the Order of the FLAME Conference held at Epworth By the Sea, a Methodist Retreat Center on St. Simons Island, GA. The event is sponsored each year by World Methodist Evangelism, where Rev. Dr. H. Eddie Fox is the World Director. Dr. Starnes is a member of the faculty for World Evangelism. Nine other members of the AME Zion Church were in attendance: Revs. Rodney and Carolyn McCullough of Fort Worth, TX; Rev. and Mrs. David Walker of Knoxville, TN; Rev. Christopher and Juliet Zacharias of New Jersey; Bro. Clarence and Taira Jones of Charlotte, NC; and Rev. William Dudley of Renton, WA.

3/25/06: Director Conducts Seminar for Western NC Conference Lay Council

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as facilitator for an Evangelism Seminar for the Western North Carolina Conference Lay Council, where Mr. Ervin Reid is the President. The seminar was held at the Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where the Rev. Roy Swan is the Pastor. The topic for the seminar was "Evangelizing the Lost."

3/20-22/06: Bureau of Evangelism Hosts Evangelism Connections' Semi-Annual Meeting

The Bureau of Evangelism of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church hosted the semi-annual meeting of Evangelism Connections, an ecumenical organization consisting of the evangelism leaders of the major denominations in North America. The event was held at the AME Zion Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to Dr. Darryl Starnes, who hosted the event, Evangelism Leaders from the following denominations were present: The Reformed Church of America, The Church of the Brethren, The United Churches of Christ; The Presbyterian Church of America, The Presbyterian Church of Canada, The Evangelical Lutheran Church, The Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, The American Baptist Church.

3/15-16/06: Director Conducts Youth Revival at McComb Chapel AME Zion Church in Birmingham, AL

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Youth Revival of the McComb Chapel AME Zion Church in Birmingham, Alabama, where the Rev. Morris Reese is the Pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Keithon Terry, as youth workers in the church, gave leadership in the planning and coordinating of this event. During the revival, five persons gave their lives to Christ.

3/14/06: Director attends Churches Uniting for Christ Ecumenical Service in Charlotte, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes was in attendance at the Church Uniting for Christ Ecumenical Service hosted by the Little Rock AME Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where Rev. Dr. Dwayne Walker is the Pastor. Formerly known as COCU (Consultation on Church Union) this ecumenical organization consists of the major denominations in America. Bishop George Walker, the Senior Bishop of the AME Zion Church and Presiding Prelate of the Piedmont Episcopal District, played a major role in the hosting of this event, which was well attended by the members of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion church.

2/27-3/2/06: Directors Conducts Revival for Central Florida & Jacksonville Districts

Dr. Darryl Starnes served as the evangelist for a four-day revival for the Central Florida and Jacksonville Districts, where the Rev. Paul Whiteurs is the Presiding Elder. The event took place at two locations. The first two nights were held at the ST James AME Zion Church in Kissimmee, Florida, where Rev. Whiteurs also serves as pastor. The last two nights were held at the Greater Faith AME Zion Church in Orlando, Florida, where the Rev. Randolph Haynes serves as pastor. The services were well attended, many were revived, and one was converted.

2/21-24/06: Director Makes Semi-Annual Report to Board of Bishops

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism, made his Semi-Annual Report t the Board of Bishops at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Los Angeles Airport. The event was held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Ministers and Laity Association. Dr. M. Bonnie Hines and the First AME Zion Church of Los Angeles were the hosts. Bishop Roy Holmes was the Host Bishop and Retiring President of the Board. One of the many highlights of the meeting occurred when Bishop Louis Hunter, the President of the Board of Bishops, challenged the denomination to participate in a 40-day Lenten Pilgrimage, From Ash Wednesday (Feb, 28) to Easter (April 16), every Zionite is asked to engage in prayer, fasting, and repentance. Handouts were distributed outlining the details of the pilgrimage and the areas of prayer focus.

2/21/06: Connectional Board of Evangelism Meets

Bishop Roy Holmes, the Chairman of the Connectional Board of Evangelism for the AME Zion Church presided over a Breakfast Meeting of the board at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Los Angeles Airport. The board discussed 1) the details surrounding the 2007 Church Growth Event which it hopes to hold at Hood Seminary in the spring or summer; and 2) providing finances for the evangelistic outreach activities that would be held at the 2008 General Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

2/11/06: Director Leads Day-Long Leadership Seminar at Cameron Presbyterian Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes facilitated a day-long Leadership Seminar at the Cameron Presbyterian Church just outside of Statesville, NC, where the Rev. J.C. Byers is the pastors. Members from the Allen Temple Presbyterian in nearby Cleveland, NC, where Rev. Byers is also the pastor, were in attendance as well.

2/7-9/06: Six Zionites Attend National Training Event, Director is a Featured Speaker

Six members of the AME Zion Church were able to attend a National Training Event for the Cornerstone Celebration Heralds, sponsored by World Methodist Evangelism, where Dr. H. Eddie Fox is the World Director. The event was held at the Scarrett-Bennett Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Darryl Starnes was one of four featured speakers for the training event. Among the Zionites who attended were Dr. Otis McMillan of Spring Lake, NC [newly appointed Director of the Church Growth Division of the Bureau of Evangelism], Dr. M. Bonnie Hines of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Eric Leake of Knoxville, TN, Rev. Alonzo Braggs of Wilson, NC, Rev. Eleazer Merriweather of Grand Rapids, MI, and Dr. Starnes of Charlotte, NC.

1/31/06: Director Concludes Disciple Making Seminars Walls Memorial AME Zion Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes facilitated the last in a series of three Disciple Making seminars for the Walls Memorial AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC, where Rev. Milton Williams, Jr. is the pastor. The seminars were sponsored by the local Lay Council, of which the Ms. Pat Sharpe is the President. The focus of the seminar series was the Class Meeting as a viable means of small group discipleship. The final session saw the large group break up into small groups and hold class meetings, led by members of the Wesley AME Zion Church, who have been training in small group discipleship. The feedback from the sessions was amazing.

1/27-28/06: Director Leads Christian Education Event at Union Chapel AME Zion Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes was a featured speaker and presenter at an event sponsored by the Christian Education Department of the Union Chapel AME Zion Church in Albemarle, NC, where the Rev. Valerie Ingram is the pastor. The focus of the event was marriage enrichment. On Friday, January 27, Dr. Starnes preached on the subject, "The Man and His Wife." Four persons gave their lives to Christ. On Saturday, January 28, Dr. Starnes facilitated a plenary session on marriage enrichment, after which he and his wife, Mrs. Camille Starnes led breakout sessions for husbands and wives.

1/24/06: Director Continues Disciple Making Seminars Walls Memorial AME Zion Church

1/20-21/06: Direct Preaches and Teaches at Holy Deliverance Church of God Evangelism Event

Dr. Darryl Starnes was the featured speaker and presenter for an Evangelism Event held at the Miracle Temple Holy Deliverance Church of God in Fayetteville, NC where Apostle Bennie Kelly is the Founder and Overseer. The Director preached at the Evangelistic Service on Friday, January 20, 2006 and facilitated an Evangelism Seminar on Saturday, January 21, 2006.

1/17-19/06: Director Conducts Revival at First AME Zion Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes served as the evangelist for a three-day revival at the First AME Zion Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the Rev. Ezra Maize is the newly appointed pastor. Building on the solid ministry of his predecessor, Rev. Maize has been a catalyst for significant growth in a short amount of time in this congregation, which is the home church of Dr. Starnes. During the revival, which was well attended, two persons gave their lives to Christ and many rededicated their lives to Christ.

1/12/06: Director is Featured Presenter at Eastern NC Episcopal District Convocation

Dr. Darryl Starnes was a featured speaker once again at the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District Annual Convocation, which was held at the North Raleigh Hilton Hotel in Raleigh, NC. Bishop Richard K. Thompson, who is the Presiding Prelate, invited the Director to teach a plenary session this year on the subject "Biblical Foundations for Evangelism."

1/1/06: Director Preaches at East Stonewall AME Zion, 8 are Converted and 3 Join

New Year's Day was special this year because it fell on a Sunday. A few hours after, the Watch Night Service, Dr. Darryl Starnes was the preacher for Sunday Morning Worship service at East Stonewall AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC, where Rev. Michael McLean is the pastor. Eight persons gave them lives to Christ and three of them united with the East Stonewall family. Another highlight of the service was the presence of Bishop James McCoy, who served as pastor of East Stonewall more than twenty years ago. Bishop McCoy was the Chief-Celebrant in the Service of Holy Communion.

12/31/05: Director Preaches at Joint-Watch Night Service, 3 Are Converted

Dr. Darryl Starnes was the preacher for a Joint Watch Night Service held at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Rev. Elvin Sadler is the Pastor. Each year Clinton Chapel, East Stonewall (Rev. Michael McLean) and Gethsemane (Rev. Calvin Miller) come together for the Watch Night Celebration. This year, Dr. Starnes and the newly established Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church were invited to share in the service. Dr. Starnes preached in place of Rev. McLean who was in San Diego for the Christian Education Winter Meeting. East Stonewall Church Choir provided the music and three persons gave their lives to Christ.

12/16, 18/05: Director Leads Two-Day Leadership Seminar at Mount Ararat A.M.E. Zion Church

Dr. Darryl Starnes led a Leadership Seminar at the Mount Ararat A.M.E. Zion Church in Richburg, South Carolina, where Rev. Margaret Powell is the pastor. The two-day event was well attended and the participation in each of the workshop was commendable. Six individuals gave their lives to Christ on the final day of the seminar.

12/2-3/05: Director Leads Seminar at Knoxville-Maryville District Retreat

For about the fifth consecutive year the Director has been a featured presenter at the Knoxville-Maryville District's Annual Leadership Retreat held at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. The theme for the retreat this year was "Lifting a Standard for the People." Bishop Joseph Johnson and Dr. Dorothy Johnson were featured presenters as well. The Director gave seminar on "Lifting a Standard of Holiness." Dr. Vincent M. Jones, the Presiding Elder of the Knoxville-Maryville District made the event one that equips and empowers ministers, laity, and youth across the district.

Director Darryl Starnes taught the first in another round of three weekly evangelism training sessions at Grace AME Zion Church in Charlotte, NC, where Dr. Bernard Sullivan is the pastor. The first round of training sessions took place in September. The goal of all of these "Train the Trainer" sessions is to train persons who will subsequently be able to train the members of the church in the ministry of evangelism. All of the participants were conscientious in their preparation and commitment to the process.

11/19/05: Director Leads Day-Long Evangelism Seminar at Cherry Street A.M.E. Zion Church

Bishop Louis Hunter has challenged the Evangelism Departments of the Southwestern Delta to provide training in personal evangelism for their areas and they are meeting that challenge with great enthusiasm. After leading a seminar in the West Tennessee-Mississippi Conference in September, Director Darryl Starnes led a day-long Evangelism Seminar at the Cherry Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. This event was organized by the Arkansas Conference Department of Evangelism, of which the Rev. Mamie Cooper Hollowonger is the Director. Rev. Hollowonger is also a member of the Connectional Board of Evangelism. The Presiding Elders, Pastors, District and Conference Officers, and laity from across the Arkansas Conference were in attendance at this well-planned event.

11/16/05: Director teaches Bible Study at Spurgeon A.M.E. Zion Church

Director Darryl Starnes was the guest teacher for the Wednesday Night Bible Study at the Spurgeon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the Rev. Ed Schneider is the recently appointed pastor. The topic for the Bible Study was "The Secrets of Prevailing Prayer," from Matthew 6: 5-15. The study was well attended and participation was excellent.

11/9-12/05: Twelve Re-dedicate Their Lives to Christ at Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church Revival

Director Darryl Starnes was the Revival Speaker for the fourth year in a row at the Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in New London, Connecticut, where the Rev. William Wilson is the pastor. During the revival, which took place Wednesday through Friday, twelve persons came forward to re-dedicate their lives to Christ. On Saturday, Dr. Starnes facilitated a four-hour seminar on Healthy Congregations.

11/6-8/05: 1 Converted, 3 Gain Assurance of Salvation at Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church Revival

For the fourth consecutive year, Director Darryl Starnes served as the Evangelist and Seminar Presenter for the Annual Revival held at the Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainville, Connecticut, where the Rev. Elvin Clayton is the pastor. Monday and Tuesday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the nightly workshops on Healthy Congregations, while Sunday through Tuesday, he was the Revival Speaker. During the revival there was one conversion, while three persons gained assurance of salvation.

The topic for the seminars was "The Foundations for Faith-Sharing. Each of the seminars was hosted by the Jonahville A.M.E. Zion Church in Huntersville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Ruth Brown is the pastor. On the 22nd of November, Dr. Starnes will begin a new series of seminars for the District on Small Group Discipleship.

10/28-30/05: Four Come to Christ as Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion Church Takes It to the Streets

Director Darryl Starnes was the speaker and facilitator for the "Taking It to the Streets" Weekend Event sponsored by the Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion in San Antonio, Texas, where Rev. Kristel Nichols is the Organizing Pastor. Rev. Nichols and husband, Clarence "Nick" Nichols, an Exhorter, were members of the Caleb A.M. E. Zion Church in San Antonio, where the Rev. Roger Booker is the Organizing Pastor [Founded in 1988]. Rev. Nichols had a vision for starting a new church in San Antonio. With God's provision and the support of Rev. Booker and the Caleb Church, Redeeming Grace held its first service on May 8th of this year. In less than six months, God has provided the church with a facility for worship and ministry. Redeeming Grace has a Clothing Pantry, a Food Bank, and a monthly distribution of Bread and Baked Goods. Dr. Starnes was the speaker for Friday Evening's evangelistic service. On Saturday, he was the trainer and facilitator of the Community Canvas, which took the gospel of Christ to the streets of San Antonio. One family came to the church on Saturday and received a meal, clothes, food, school supplies, and toys for their child. On Sunday, Dr. Starnes gave the morning message and four young people, who came to the church because of the canvas, gave their lives to Christ. The Redeeming Grace provided them with food, clothing, and school supplies; and took meals to their families in the community. Supporters of the Taking It to the Streets Event included Rev. Latoison, the pastor of Holy Ghost A.M.E. Zion in Houston, Rev. Rodney McCullough, Pastor of Outland Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church in Fort Worth, TX.

The topic for the seminar was "The Challenges of Disciple Making." The dynamic Rev. Scot Moore, the pastor of the Judah Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in Mitchellville, Maryland was the Revival Speaker.

10/23/05: Thirteen Come to Christ at New Bethel AME Zion Church Homecoming

Director Darryl Starnes was the Homecoming Speaker at the New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Orland Dowdy is the pastor. During the service, which was high-spirited from the beginning, twelve came forward to accept Christ and fifteen came forward to receive assurance of salvation. After the service, during the Homecoming meal, another individual came forward to give her life to Christ.

10/17-19/05: Four Are Converted at Jonahville A.M.E. Zion Church Revival

Director Darryl Starnes was the Revival Speaker for the Jonahville A.M.E. Zion Church in Huntersville, North Carolina, where the Rev. Ruth Brown is the pastor. During the week four individuals came forward to make professions of faith. A few received assurance of salvation and one re-dedicated her lives to Christ. The fires of revival burned brightly during the three day event.

10/10-14/05: Five Accept Christ at Community A.M.E. Zion Church Revival

For the fifth consecutive year, Director Darryl Starnes served as the Evangelist and Seminar Presenter for the Annual Fall Revival held at the Community A.M.E. Zion Church in Vancouver, Washington, where the Rev. Robert Kemp is the pastor. Monday through Thursday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the nightly workshops on "Healthy Congregations." Monday through Friday, the Director was the Revival Speaker. On Friday, he facilitated an all-day workshop on "Presenting the Gospel" for the Oregon-Washington Conference Department of Evangelism, of which the Rev. William Dudley is the Director. During the Revival five persons accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

10/8/05: Director is Chapel Speaker at Hood Theological Seminary

Director Darryl Starnes was the Chapel Speaker at the Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina, where Dr. Albert Aymer is the President and Dr. Reginald Broadnax is the Dean. The Chapel Service, which was held at the Seminary's recently acquired property off of Jake Alexander Boulevard, was led by Student Government Association President, Rev. Keith O. Johnson.

10/3-7/05: Seven Come to Christ at New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church Revival

Director Darryl Starnes was the Speaker each night of the five day Revival held at the New Hope A. M. E. Zion Church in Spencer, North Carolina, where the Rev. Retoy Gaston is the pastor. During the week seven individuals came forward to give their lives the Jesus Christ. Others received assurance of salvation, while still others re-dedicated their lives to Christ. It was a time of spiritual renewal for the entire congregation.

10/2/05: Director Plants New Church in Harrisburg, NC Area

The Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church held it first service on October 2, 2005 in the Denny Building, Room 220 on the Campus of UNC Charlotte, only a few miles from Harrisburg, NC. Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism for the A.M.E. Zion Church, is the Organizing Pastor. Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church is new congregation birthed out of the East Stonewall A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Rev. Michael McLean is the pastor. On June 6th 2005, Dr. Starnes, who is a member of East Stonewall, began weekly training sessions in disciple making for the ten charter members of the new church [five members of his family and five other members of the East Stonewall]. He also provided weekly discipleship training for the Class Leader of the East Stonewall Church. The training was complete at the end of September and the new church had its first service on October 2. Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church has twenty members. Sunday School is at 9:00 AM; Worship Service is at 10:00 AM; and Class Meetings are held in the homes on Mondays at 11:00 AM and at 6:00 PM.

9/28-29/05: Director is Chapel Speaker and Seminar Presenter

Wednesday Evening, September 28, 2005, Dr. Darryl B. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism was the Chapel Speaker at the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. On Thursday, September 29, the Director facilitated an all-day Evangelism Seminar at the Black Church Leadership Symposium sponsored by the Rogers-Cunningham-Bowman Ministerial Institute and the Office of Mission Strategy/Mission Evangelism, USA/Canada, Church of the Nazarene/ Chapel. The Symposium was hosted by Nazarene Bible College. Dr. Oliver Phillips is the Director of Mission Strategy/Mission Evangelism. This is the second consecutive year that Dr. Starnes has been a presenter at this annual event.
