11/14-16/07: Director Conducts Revival for Dallas-Fort Worth District

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Revival sponsored by the Dallas-Fort Worth District, where the Rev. John Morris is the Presiding Elder and the Rev. Lenora Counter is the District Director of Evangelism. The services were held at the Saint Mark AME Zion Church on Vineyard Street in the Dallas, Texas, where the Rev. Billy Counter is the pastor. Prior to the event the churches of the district engaged in special outreach in their respective communities. The focus of the revival was spiritual renewal and empowerment as Ambassadors for Christ. The week climaxed with a Super Saturday event that provided training and empowerment for effective ministry.

11/7-9/07: Six Give Their Lives to Christ in Revival at Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in New London, CT

Director Darryl Starnes was the Revival Speaker for the sixth year in a row at the Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church in New London, Connecticut, where the Rev. William Wilson is the pastor. During the revival, which took place Wednesday through Friday, six persons came forward to give their lives to Christ. Each night prior to the Revival Services, Dr. Starnes facilitated an hour-long seminar on Evangelism.

11/4-6/07: Seven Converted as Director Revival at Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainville, CT

For the sixth consecutive year, Director Darryl Starnes served as the Evangelist and Seminar Presenter for the Annual Revival held at the Redeemer's A.M.E. Zion Church in Plainville, Connecticut, where the Rev. Elvin Clayton is the pastor. Monday and Tuesday, Dr. Starnes facilitated the nightly workshops on The Timeless Principles of Effective Evangelism, while Sunday through Tuesday, he was the Revival Speaker. During the revival there were seven conversions, as well as many other rededications.

10/25-28/07: Three Come to Christ as Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion Church Takes It to the Streets

For the third consecutive year, Dr. Starnes facilitated the "Taking It to the Streets" Event sponsored by the Redeeming Grace A.M.E. Zion in San Antonio, Texas, where Rev. Kristel Nichols is the Organizing Pastor and Director of Evangelism for the Houston District. Only in its third year of existence, Redeeming Grace has grown to more than forty members. Dr. Starnes led training sessions on Small Group Discipleship on Thursday evening, Friday evening, and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, the church took the gospel to the streets of San Antonio. Sunday, Dr. Starnes gave the morning message during which three persons came forward to accept Christ and at least five others came forward for assurance of salvation. Supporters of the event included Rev. Barbara Latoison, Presiding Elder, Houston District; Rev. A. J. Latoison, Houston District Intercessor and pastor of Holy Ghost A.M.E. Zion in Houston; Rev. and Mrs. Michael Hayles, pastor of Porter Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Dobbin, TX and Texas Conference Director of Evangelism; and Rev. Roger Booker, pastor of Caleb A.M.E. Zion Church, San Antonio.

10/20/07: Director Leads Evangelism Seminar at the Cedar Grove AME Zion Church in Cleveland, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated an Evangelism Seminar at the Cedar Grove AME Zion Church in Cleveland, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Patricia Tyson is the pastor. There was wonderful participation on the part of those who attended the seminar, which was open to the community. The Cedar Grove Church supplied a delicious meal afterward, and provided an atmosphere for rich fellowship.

10/16-17/07: Director Leads Solemn Assembly at Union Chapel AME Zion Church, Albemarle, NC

Dr. Starnes led a Church-wide Solemn Assembly at the Union Chapel AME Zion Church in Albemarle, North Carolina, where the Rev. Valerie Ingram is the pastor. In the weeks prior to the event, the pastor called the church to forty days of prayer and repentance. During that span the leaders of the church were the first to gather as a group and make a list of their corporate sins. The following week the church members gathered as a group to make a list of their corporate sins, as did the youth and children. On October 16, the church gathered as a whole with each of the three groups confessing their corporate sins and praying for forgiveness. On October 17, the church gathered again as Dr. Starnes brought the message. As members of the church sought reconciliation, healing, and forgiveness, the presence of the Lord filled the house; and list of sins were burned, symbolism God's forgiveness.

10/14/07: Wesley AME Zion Church Celebrates Second Church Anniversary

Rev. Michael McLean and the East Stonewall AME Zion Church hosted the Second Anniversary Celebration of the Wesley AME Zion Church, a new church to which it gave birth in 2005. The Wesley Church, where Dr. Darryl B. Starnes is the Organizing Pastor, currently worships at the University of Charlotte, Denny Building, Room 220. The congregation has grown from 10 to more than 30 members, with Harrisburg, NC being the target area. At its Second Anniversary Celebration the Rev. Gaylyn S. Wilson brought a dynamic message and the choir and congregation of the Glovers Grove AME Zion Church of Slier City, NC accompanied her. Wesley's Choir (VOW), Dance Ministry (CREAM); Children's Dance Ministry (A Little Bit of CREAM), and Christian Rapper, Zachariah Babington-Johnson of Wesley all shared in the celebration.

10/12-13/07: Director Preaches and Teaches as West Central North Carolina Conference Takes It to the Streets

Dr. Starnes was the featured preacher and teacher for the Taking It to the Streets Event sponsored by the Department of Evangelism of the West Central North Carolina Conference, where the Rev. Dr. Johnnie P. Henderson is the Conference Director of Evangelism. The event was hosted by the Bethel AME Zion Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where the Rev. Haven Anderson is the pastor. The Rev. Valerie Ingram, the Director of Evangelism for the Host Concord District, assisted Dr. Henderson in giving leadership for the event. Dr. Starnes was the speaker for Friday's Evangelistic Service, which saw the Concord District Choir and the Bethel Church Choir provide the music. Dr. Starnes facilitated the Saturday training session that preceded the community canvass, which took the gospel to the street surrounding the Bethel Church.

10/9/07: Director Leads Evangelism Seminar at the Marvin AME Zion Church in Waxhaw, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated the second in a series of two Evangelism Seminars at the Marvin AME Zion Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina, where Rev. Henrico White is the pastor. The seminar was again well attended, with wonderful participation on the part of the attendees.

9/28-29/07:Director Leads Discipleship Seminar at the Lancaster District Conference

Dr. Starnes facilitated a Discipleship Seminar at the Lancaster District Conference and Sunday School Convention, where the Rev. Dr. Robert Christian is the Presiding Elder. The event was hosted by the David Stand AME Zion Church in Lancaster, South Carolina, where Dr. Christian is the supply pastor. The seminar focused on the Class Meeting as a model for small group discipleship.

9/23/07:Eleven Come to Christ as Director Preaches at Cameron Presbyterian Church, Cleveland, NC

Dr. Starnes was the Homecoming Speaker for the Cameron Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, North Carolina, where the Rev. J. C. Byers is the pastor. The choir of the Wesley AME Zion Church in Charlotte, where the Director is the organizing pastor, provided the music for the service. After the message, eleven persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

9/20-21/07: Five Are Converted at Evangelism Seminar at MT Lebanon AME Zion Church, Elizabeth City, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated an Evangelism Seminar at the historic MT Lebanon AME Zion Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, where the Rev. Tony Henderson is the pastor. The two-day event also featured the Rev. Dr. William Kelly, the pastor of Trinity AME Zion Church in Washington, DC, who presented on Worship in the 21st Century. At the close of the Evangelism Seminar five persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation. Pastor Henderson opened the training up to members of both the Elizabeth City and the Edenton Districts of the Albemarle Conference.

9/14-15/07: Thirteen Come to Christ as Director is Featured Speaker/Presenter at Black Clergy/Laity Convocation

Dr. Starnes conducted two Discipleship Workshops and an Evangelism Workshop at the Black Clergy/Laity Convocation sponsored by the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Lillie Madison-Jones, Ministries Team Coordinator for Ethnic and Justice Ministries, was the coordinator for the event, which was held at the Embassy Suites in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Starnes also delivered one of the featured messages for the event that focused on Evangelism. After the message, thirteen persons came forward to trust Christ for salvation.

9/10-12/07: Eleven Are Converted as Director Conducts Revival at MT Hebron AME Zion Church, Hallsboro, NC

Dr. Starnes served as Facilitator and Evangelist for a three-day Revival held at the MT Hebron AME Zion Church in Hallsboro, North Carolina, where the Rev. Maria B. Lacewell is the pastor. Pastor Lacewell also serves as the Director of Evangelism for the Wilmington District. Dr. Starnes led Evangelism Workshops each night prior to the revival services. Church from the District provided the music. Presiding Elder Alexander Jones and ministers from the District, as well as the community gave wonderful support to the event. During the week eleven persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

9/9/07: Five Come to Christ as Director Speaks at St. Mark AME Church, Milwaukee, WI

Dr. Starnes was the featured speaker for the Evangelism Emphasis Day at the St. Mark AME Church in Milwaukee, WI, where the Rev. Darryl Williams is the pastor. The Director's heart was greatly warmed when the Rev. Johnny Johnson brought the entire congregation of the Clement Memorial AME Zion Church in Milwaukee to share in the service. The highlight of the service was the five persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

9/4-6/07: Director Gives Devotional Message at Evangelism Connections' Meeting in San Diego, CA

Dr. Starnes represented the AME Zion Church at the semi-annual meeting of Evangelism Connections, an ecumenical organization consisting of the evangelism leaders of the major denominations in North America. The meeting was held at the Comfort Inn and Suites in San Diego, California, as Rev. Jeff Glass, Leader of the Congregational Life Team of the Church of the Brethren General Board, served as hosts for the event. Charlene J. Smith, Minister of Evangelism for Local Church Development and Renewal for the United Church of Christ, served as convener. Denominations represented at the meeting including the AME Zion Church, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the United Church of Christ, the Reformed Church of America, the Church of the Brethren, the Presbyterian Church of America, the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Baptist Church, and the United Methodist Church. Dr. Starnes had the privilege of sharing a devotional message at the event.

8/29/07: Director Does Pre-Solemn Assembly Training at Union Chapel AME Zion Church, Albemarle, NC

Dr. Starnes conducted a Pre-Solemn Assembly Training Sessions with leaders of the Union Chapel AME Zion Church in Albemarle, North Carolina, where the Rev. Valerie Ingram is the pastor. The sincerity and genuineness of the pastor and leaders was evident throughout the session. Plans were solidified for following through with the corporate repentance that could vault the congregation to the next level of meaningful ministry. Group sessions were planned for the upcoming weeks, culminating in a church-wide solemn assembly October 16-17, 2007.

Dr. Starnes facilitated an Evangelism Seminar at the Marvin AME Zion Church in Waxhaw, North Carolina, where Rev. Henrico White is the pastor. The seminar was well attended and there was wonderful participation. Another session is schedule for October 9, 2007.

8/22-24/07: Five Come to Christ at Revival at Triumphant Ones Ministry, Pittsboro, NC

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival at the Triumphant Ones Ministry in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Carrie H. Bolton is the organizing pastor. Five persons came forward to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at this new ministry that is only eight month old.

8/13-15/07: Director Conducts Revival at Indian Hill AME Zion Church in Fort Mill, SC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Indian Hill AME Zion Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Dorothy S. Johnson is the pastor. The choirs of the community provided the music each night in the unique style of South Carolina singing. Bishop Joseph Johnson, retired Bishop and spouse of the pastor, was in attendance at the highly spirited services.

8/12/07:Director Preaches at the Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, AL

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes brought the message at each of the three Sunday morning worship services at the Christ United Methodist Church in Mobile, Alabama, where the Rev. Dr. Jeff Spiller serves as the Senior Pastor. Dr. Spiller was the organizing pastor of this congregation more than twenty-five years ago. The ministry began with about 20 members, but now has a membership of more than 5,000 persons.

8/10-11/07: Director Leads Discipleship Seminar at the Augusta-Winder District Conference

Dr. Starnes facilitated a Discipleship Seminar at the Augusta-Winder District Conference and Sunday School Convention, where the Rev. Dr. John Paul Ruth is the Presiding Elder. It was hosted by the Bush Chapel AME Zion Church in Winder, Georgia, where the Rev. Lynn E. Hill is the pastor. The seminar focused on the Class Meeting as a model for small group discipleship.

8/6-9/07: Director Conducts Revival at Rock Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, SC

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Rock Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Ralph Washington is the pastor. The choirs of the church and the community provided the music each night in the unique style of South Carolina singing.

7/28 - 8/2/07:Director Attends Missionary Quadrennial Convention in Orlando, FL

Dr. Starnes attended the twenty-sixth Quadrennial Session of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society that was held at the World Center Marriott Hotel in Orlando, Florida. This awesome seven-day event thrived under the capable leadership of the General President, Dr. Barbara Shaw and was attended by countless thousands.

7/25-27/07: Director Makes Annual Report to the Connectional Council

Dr. Starnes, the Director of the Bureau of Evangelism, made his Annual Report, first to the Board of Evangelism, chaired by Bishop Roy Holmes, and then to the Connectional Council of the A.M.E. Zion Church, led by Bishop George Walker, the President of the Board of Bishop and Senior Bishop. The annual event, which this year was held at the J. W. Marriott in Orlando, Florida, was hosted by the Alabama-Florida Episcopal District, Bishop James McCoy, Presiding Prelate.

7/16-20/07: Eight Come to Christ as Director Conducts Revival at St. Peter AME Zion Church in Gastonia, NC

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Summer Revival of the Saint Peter AME Zion Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, where the Rev. Leroy White is the pastor. The choirs of the church and the community provided the music each night. Eight persons gave their lives to Christ, while others committed themselves to being used in kingdom building.

6/19-26/07: Director is Featured Presenter at the 8th International Evangelism Seminar in Atlanta, GA

Dr. Starnes was a featured presenter at the Eighth International Evangelism Seminar, sponsored by the World Methodist Evangelism Institute. Held at the Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center in Norcross, Georgia, it had more than four hundred persons in attendance from around the world. Dr. Otis McMillan, the Director of the Church Growth Division for the AME Zion Church was also a presenter.

6/21/07: Director Teaches Clergy at South Atlantic Episcopal District's Faith and Order Conference

Dr. Starnes served as one of the featured presenters at the Arthur Marshall Jr. Faith and Order Conference sponsored by the South Atlantic Episcopal District, were the Rt. Rev. Clarence Carr is the Presiding Prelate. The annual event was hosted again this year at Clinton Jr. College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, where Dr. Elaine Copeland serves as President. Dr. Starnes facilitated a session with clergy on Visionary Leadership.

6/17/07: Director Preaches at First United Methodist Church, Canton, GA

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes brought the message at each of the three Sunday morning worship services at the First United Methodist Church in Canton, Georgia, where the Rev. Dr. C. R. Hill, Jr. serves as the Senior Pastor. Two traditional services were sandwiched between a contemporary service, with each having its own unique flavor.

6/14-19/07:Director Attends Meeting of World Methodist Evangelism Secretaries in Atlanta, GA

Dr. Starnes attended his first meeting of the Secretaries of World Methodist Evangelism, which was held at the Simpsonwood Conference and Retreat Center in Norcross, Georgia. As the recently appointed Secretary of Evangelism for the North American Section of the World Methodist Council, Dr. Starnes was one of sixteen World Secretaries of Evangelism in attendance.

6/3/07: Director Preaches at Luminary United Methodist Church, Ten Mile, TN

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes brought the message at each of the three Sunday morning worship services at the Luminary United Methodist Church in Ten Mile, Tennessee, where the Rev. Jay Ferguson. serves as the Senior Pastor. Sunday evening Dr. Starnes delivered the message for the very unique baptismal service, which include the pastor's son. Drama was creatively used to proclaim the message of Christian baptism.

5/11-12/07 : Scores Are Converted at Evangelism Weekend at Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, MT Vernon, NY

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the featured speaker and facilitator for the Annual Evangelism Weekend of the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, where the Rev. W. Darin Moore is the pastor and Bro. Harvey Salmon is the local Director of Evangelism. Dr. Starnes spoke Friday Night at the Evangelism Service, where three persons gave their lives to Christ. He spoke again at the Saturday Morning Prayer Breakfast. He led an evangelism training session to prepare and organize witnesses for the community canvass which would follow. Four groups of four witnesses went into the community and shared the gospel. Many contacts were made and through the community outreach a total of thirty-eight person professed faith in Christ.

5/6/07: Six Come to Christ as Director Preaches at Bethel AME Zion Church, Kannapolis, NC

Dr. Starnes was the speaker for Spiritual Emphasis Day at Bethel AME Zion Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina, where the Rev. Haven Anderson is the pastor. The choir of the Wesley AME Zion Church in Charlotte, where the Director is the organizing pastor, provided the music for the service. After the message, six persons came forward to give their lives to Christ.

5/4-5/07: Director Conducts Witnessing Workshop at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston Salem, NC

Dr. Darryl B. Starnes served as the facilitator for the Witnessing Workshops held at the Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Roy Swann is the pastor. During the event two persons gave their lives to Christ.

4/28/07 : Director Leads Evangelism Seminar at the St. Paul AME Zion Church in Lancaster, SC

Dr. Starnes facilitated an Evangelism Seminar at the Saint Paul AME Zion Church in Lancaster, South Carolina, where Brother Raphael Gadson is the pastor. The pastor's vision is for the congregation to carry the gospel to the neighborhood surrounding the church and make the St. Paul Church a light in the community. In addition to the members of the church, another minister from the Lancaster District and the Pee Dee Conference Director of Christian Education were in attendance.

4/23-27/07 : Ten Come to Christ at Church Growth Seminar at the Fair Promise AME Zion Church in Sanford, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated a week-long Church Growth Seminar at the Fair Promise AME Zion Church in Sanford, North Carolina, where the Rev. Shawn Williams is the newly appointed pastor. Dr. Starnes also had the privilege of appearing on the church's radio program, which in the three months that Rev. Williams has been pastor, has gone from one to three days of weekly broadcast. The seminar was wonderfully attended each night by the officers and members of the church. In addition, pastors and church from the community also were in attendance each night. The highlight of the week was the ten persons who came forward to give their lives to Christ and trust Him for salvation.

4/14/07 : Director Leads Leadership Seminar at the MT Olivet AME Zion Church in Greensboro, NC

Dr. Starnes facilitated a Leadership Seminar at the Mount Olivet AME Zion Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, where the Rev. Tyrone Rigby is the pastor. There was excellent participation on the part of those who attended as the seminar focus on "The Challenge of Christian Leadership."

4/11-13/07 : Fourteen Come to Christ at Youth Revival at Triumphant Ones Ministry in Pittsboro, NC

Dr. Starnes served as the evangelist for the Youth Revival at the Triumphant Ones Ministry in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where the Rev. Dr. Carrie H. Bolton is the organizing pastor. Fourteen people, most youth came forward to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at the new ministries that is only five month old.
